Rarely Found So Called Flip Ring

This is an amazing and intriguing ring. It is a rare find! This 14 yellow karat gold ring is a "flip ring", so called, as the stone on top can be flipped to be something different originally seen. This dates from 1918. There is a delicate and beautiful shell carved cameo on one side. When one gently pushes down on the head of the image of the woman, the stone flips on a hinge , revealing the new stone, which is a glossy black onyx mounted with a diamond. Really remarkable! When one desires the original cameo setting, all one needs to do is gently push on the onyx stone on the end where the woman's head is seated underneath, and it flips again to lock into the cameo setting! Always remember to push the side with the head in order to avoid damaging the locking mechanism. The stone measures 1/2" long and sits slightly higher than 1/4" off the setting on top. Size 4~1/2.
