Circa 1880 Very Large Pair of French Regency "Magnums"

This is a wonderful pair of hand- blown French Regency "magnum" decanters from the 1800's, having twice the capacity of normal decanters, these were not used for storage but for serving wine at the table.

These fine examples of Circa 1880 decanters are a splendidly large 13" height, possessing classically elegant proportions -- a shouldered shape, (the body wider at the neck than the base) a knopped collar, with a mushroom shaped stopper. These wonderfully elegant tall necks acted as handles to hold the decanters and lift them out of the cellarettes.

Marks.. pontil marks on base with a few air bubbles .. . Condition ; mint, very minor nicks to inside base of stopper
