Circa 1900 Set of 7 Sterling Silver Dessert-Spoons by Ellis & Co

This lovely set of dessert flatware have a delicately raised beaded work design on the handles with a cluster of flowers and leaves tapering to the tip of the handle

This raised decoration motif is found on flatware of the 19th century, these pieces are made with pattern on both sides are called "double -struck" and are very collectable items in their own right. This beautiful pattern, "Lancaster" was made during the early part of the 19th century in Canada by Ellis & Co.

Each spoon is hallmarked with a lion, anchor and the letter E set in a maple leaf and the word,Sterling. The Ellis & Co was a Canadian silver maker that merged with the famous Birks Silver company in 1921.
