This raised decoration motif is found on flatware of the 19th century, these pieces are made with pattern on both sides are called "double -struck" and are very collectable items in their own right. This beautiful pattern, "Lancaster" was made during the early part of the 19th century in Canada by Ellis & Co.
Each spoon is hallmarked with a lion, anchor and the letter E set in a maple leaf and the word,Sterling. The Ellis & Co was a Canadian silver maker that merged with the famous Birks Silver company in 1921.
