Circa 1835 Antique Silver Plated Candle Snuffer Scissors

Scissor shaped candle snuffers were used for trimming the wick of candles in the 18th century. This lovely example of a candle snuffer shaped like a pair of scissors is decorated in "close silver," which is silver foil covering a base of metal.

This snuffer set on 3 legs has a lovely and highly elaborate floral detailed motif, it would be very pretty displayed on a table top and it is so very useful as well.

It has the initials GR stamped on the inside pressing plate.

Condition: minor silver loss on the box, consistent with a piece of this vintage
