Circa 1900 Limoges Set of Eleven Hand-Painted Dessert /Luncheon Set

Of the many Vignaud Freres beautifully decorated white wares only a very select few have the elaborately decorated "V" in a fancy shield displayed here, this exquisite set of French Limoges comprises 10 dessert size plates and 1 footed compote.

During the 1900's, A Vignaud Freres carried on extensive export of exquisite French table wares which were their specialty.

This set is of superior quality, beautifully hand-painted porcelain, with a central theme of a compote over-flowing with exquisitely colored fruit, with vibrantly colored cobalt blue double borders overlayed in figured gilt with colored fruit set in-between the borders..the footed compote has the same beautifully hand painted design repeated on it's footed base.

This set would have been specially commissioned for a well to do family, as evidenced by the very lavish hand-painting and hand-gilding of this beautiful set of 11 pieces..

Marked: E.Bourgeois, Paris Rue Droun..a well established company Paris shop that commissioned Limoges of only the finest quality and workmanship during the 1900's.

Compote : 8 3/4" diameter x 3" height Plates ; 8 1/2" diameter . Some bear the mark A. Vignaud, France, Limoges, Fabrique Specialement Pour le Grand Depot, Paris, Limoges, France.

Condition: Mint; no chips, cracks, wear or repair.
