This very large and beautiful peach colored portrait vase with cover is from the important workshop of Franz Anton Mehlem of Bonn, Germany, Circa 1836

This is a wonderful and richly colored peach Portrait Vase, embellished with elaborate ornamentation in the Classical manner of the mid 1800's, using magnificent bands of exquisite polychrome hand - painted decoration...

Possessing delicate floral encrusted and gilt handles it features a beautiful portrait of a lovely young women exquisitely painted in fine detail and set in a gilded cartouche which has been signed by the artist.

There are many superb gilded flourishes in this exquisitely detailed covered urn which are based on the typically classical forms of the period...EXQUISITE! Unfortunately the photographs do not replicate this wonderful play of exceptional color...when you hold it, it's beauty is so ... EXQUISITE!
