19th Century Rudolstadt Hand Painted Porcelain Cabinet Cup & Saucer

An exquisite late 19th Century gilt on vellum like porcelain cabinet cup and saucer made by Rudolstadt of Thuringia, Germany, (Circa 1720-1791). In 1882 they began producing luxury and fancy porcelain articles using the Schwarzburg shield underglaze mark.

The set is elaborately hand decorated with a Roman frieze on white glazed porcelain, which is enhanced by a very heavy application of gilt beading and jeweling.

Size; cup ....approx.2 1/4" Tall x approx. 2 1/4 " Diameter Size; saucer...4 1/4" Diameter

Condition; excellent, minor 1" tight hairline interior crack(please view thumb nail photo) to the cup with very minor gilt losses ...commensurate with a set of this vintage
