This dog is marked on the bottom of it's right front paw with the well known Hutschenreuther hallmark lion inside of a circle with the date 1814. Under the circle is the word "Germany". This piece comes with it's original factory label, which has been stuck to the bottom of it's belly. The label has the company name "Lorenz Hutschenreuther", and what appears to be the model number: "2593 / 2f". Another label has the numbers: "145 / 1276". It also comes with it's original hang tag, which reveals that the artist was Gunther Granget.
Hutschenreuther is famous for their fine porcelain animal objects, and is compared with the quality produced by other top German companies, including: Rosenthal, Meissen, Dresden, and Nymphenburg.
The details on this dog were very well executed, and are quite realistic. Especially, the way they have masterfully captured the pose, and the blending of the dog's natural colors and markings.
This piece measures approximately 6 1/2" tall x 9" long x 2" wide. Overall, It is in excellent condition.
