A charming English Victorian Pâpier-Maché wall bracket with Chinoiserie decoration. These lovely little niceties were used in mid to late Victorian homes throughout England, France, and the Americas to display small figurines and knick-knacks. They conveniently folded up for storage and were often painted with Asian motifs. The fan-shaped back of this folding shelf is unusual and a nice backdrop for the lively painted scene of Japanese actors in a garden setting; size 13” H x 10 ½” W x 4” D.
