SOLD Victorian Mourning Black Glass Bead Choker

This is a fabulous choker from the Victorian period. Women wore different types of black jewelry, sometimes with hair of their loved one incorporated into the jewelry. This piece has does not have hair; instead it consists of beautiful shiny glass black beads. There are five sections, each section being delineated by a hanging bead that looks somewhat like a door knocker, or a bell. There are six strands of beads in each section. The strands of beads hang loosely making a curved arch. The closure is a hook and there is a trailer of beads, so that the necklace can be adjusted.

The necklace measures 15” in length and has a 1 1/2" drop. This is a stunning, very well preserved necklace.
