SOLD Brilliant 1930’s Unique Celluloid Pendant Necklace on Sterling Silver Chain

A really special 1930’s pendant necklace made of celluloid plastic and hand painted in enamel. At the top of the pendant appears what seems to be a walkway in brown with black lines. The walkway opens to what I see as a circular flower bed or garden. I would like to say that it is a garden or flower bed, but what it resembles is really in the eye of the beholder. White enamel with black enamel dots are at the top of the circular opening, as if they were a path from which to look at this exceptional garden. Raised ornate celluloid molded or carved roses appear in the circular part of the pendant adjacent to the walkway. The roses are muted in colors of sky-blue, light peach, muted yellow or cream; all these roses are remarkable in terms of color and placement. Below the roses there are enamel aloe-green colored leaves that create a zig zag at the bottom of the pendant. Black enamel is used to delineate the leaves from one another.

The pendant hangs from a sterling silver paper clip chain, with a spring lock clasp, and has an exquisite antique patina. On the inner ring next to the clasp it is stamped “Sterling”. The inner ring is very small and delicate, therefore photographing on the inside of this ring is impossible!

The pendant measures 2 1/8" long and 2 1/4" in width. The chain measures 16 3/8". This is a uniquely designed celluloid pendant quite intriguing and exceptional.
