Extraordinary brooch/pin depicting two birds of paradise from the 1930’s. In the 1930’s and 40’s a popular theme for a brooch/pin was the pot metal and enamel bird of paradise. Coro is very well known for their birds of paradise; Boucher had a version as did many companies. This pin is unsigned, but every bit as beautiful as one that is Hallmarked. These two birds are kissing. They are made of pot metal and enameled in the front. The colors are striking pastels in pink, purple and baby blue with yellow accents. The wings and tails are accented with paved clear rhinestones and are molded creating a three dimensional appearance. The birds are perched on a branch of flowers. The branch and leaves are green. The white flowers on the branch are three dimensional, with a clear rhinestone at the center of each flower. The eyes of the birds are also a clear rhinestone.
The birds measure 3” in length. The brooch/pin is stunning, and remarkably the enamel is intact as are the rhinestones, The rhinestones are all bright and shiny. The catch is has a safety latch. This piece can only be described in glowing terms, as it is exquisite as well as charming and delightful. A 1930’s brooch/pin at its best.
