A gem! Old art nouveau beaded bag with fabulous silver frame!

This is one of the most beautiful art nouveau beaded bags we ever had to offer! The pattern and colors are simply gorgeous: in an oval medallion surrounded with black beads, a magnificent bird of Paradise made from red and iridescent beads is sitting on an exotic tree with yellow flowers. Lovely bead work, very art nouveau with a touch of art deco! The body of the purse is completely covered up with beads. The bag is mounted on a gorgeous art nouveau silver frame embossed with a splendid array of various fruits. Both parts of the frame are stamped 800 for European silver and are signed with a butterfly. And everything – bead work and frame decor – is repeated on BOTH SIDES! Considering its age (early 1900), this bag is in good condition but very fragile and only meant for collecting/displaying purposes, not for being used! In a few places some black beads are missing and on one of the medallions, a few cream-colored beads are missing (see pictures). It doesn't detract from the beauty of this bag and should be an easy repair for somebody who has that kind of manual skill. We are selling it "as is". As regards the inside, it is still intact and fairly clean. The bag is very large: 10½" (26½ cm) from the clasp to the bottom of the fringes and 7½" (19cm) at the widest. The handle is a double silver chain (total length 34" (86 cm). The total weight of this bag is over 300 grams! It will ship Priority registered airmail for $12 in the countries neighboring Switzerland and $17 anywhere else in the world. In spite of its few flaws, it is still a gorgeous bag and a nice collector's piece. Don't miss it!
