Certainly not your usual wooden nesting doll! Quality Russian artist hand painted (7) nesting dolls better known as matryoshka dolls. Fine detail and incredible talent went into the painting, with each scene relating to romance or courtship. Breath-taking in person as my photos show less of. The wood is very light and each doll was precision made to nest easily and perfectly. No hard twisting and turning here. Largest doll measures 5" high and the smallest is 1". I have added a photo of each. Bottom of the large doll is signed by the artist as well as the name of the piece, all in Russian, 1994.
