DeLizza & Elster Emerald Shooting Star Demi Parure

Yep, I’m a sucker for japanned finishes on my vintage jewelry and this green set by DeLizza & Elster is ringing my bells tonight. This is an exceptionally pretty design, it reminds me of an abstract version of a shooting star with the streaks of fire shooting out behind it, but you may see something entirely different in this beauty. In fact, when I turn this piece sideways I can see a partridge. Go figure.

The brooch is slightly domed and has three tails of corded wire and prong set emerald aurora borealis rhinestones jutting out from both the top and bottom. Two leaf shaped designs of pavé set green tourmaline rhinestones accent the main body of emerald rhinestones, open backed navettes and enclosed chatons. Topping it all is a floret with an emerald center and petals of green tourmaline rhinestones. The earrings mimic the brooch with open back emerald navettes, a large emerald chaton and pavé set green tourmaline rhinestones. The brooch is 3” long by 1 ¾” wide (or it could be 3” wide by 1 ¾” long). The earrings are 1 ¼” by 5/8 inches. The finish is the dark shiny charcoal that passes for the DeLizza & Elster japanned finish. Every rhinestone is full of life and the finish looks as if this set has never been worn.

This set contains the figure eight solders, open back navettes, one piece pin assembly and dark charcoal plating consistent with Juliana jewelry. It matches a set I have in red that includes the five link bracelet so I am confident in identifying this set as D&E.
