An Avant-Garde mentality believes things arise only from the leading edge of reality. Take one good look at this painting and you gotta believe this gentleman fits that mode. I bought this painting about three years ago and have loved ever since.The oil on canvas painting is signed "Katherine Ross Robinson" and dated 1955. From what I was told this gentleman was some well known New York designer. I know nothing about the artist Mrs. Robinson with the exception she seduced Dustin Hoffman in the film The Graduate. The subject of her artwork certainly wanted his portrait to project success and style of the new age post World War 2 modern man. But it's that bizarre positioning of his hand that makes one ponder what he is really trying to say? The painting with the frame measures 27" x 30" inches.
