This is an English porcelain vase in the shape of an ewer with a handle. The maker is unknown. The age is the late 19th century, circa 1870 to 1900.
The vase is about 10 1/8” high and about 4” wide at the belly. The foot is flared. The body is bulbous. The neck is cylindrical and tapers to a small mouth. A gilded rope handle is attached at the neck and body.
The ground is pink and glazed. The top of the neck has oval indentations colored in a blue-green. Below it are long lines in white and gold. The top of the body is glazed white with sprays of hand painted flowers circling the body. A raised ridge in yellow and gold divides the pink and white. The body narrows down to a stemmed food, with raised designs in the stem and food, and with more gold trim.
There are no chips or cracks. There is light crazing in the glaze, but with no discoloration. The edge of the food has numerous indentations in the porcelain that is covered with the original gold trim and is part of the original mold. There is some light wear to the gold trim.
The bottom shows an original old screw assembly inside the hollow. Over the glaze in hand written red is the number 3 followed by “No 4189.”
