This is a tiny figural hard paste porcelain cup and saucer, most likely unmarked Royal Bayreuth. The age is the late 19th century, circa 1890. The region of origin is most likely Tettau, Bavaria, Germany.
The cup is a strawberry, very detailed, with the indentations where the seeds are stored. The green handle is the stem, and it twists and loops. The bottom of the cup is where the stem meets the strawberry and there are those green leaves. The strawberry is ripe, shading from a yellow at the top to a red at the bottom above the leaves. The seeds are mostly white.
The saucer is the leaf, in shades of green, and showing the veins in raised relief on the blank. The edge is irregular.
There is gold trim around the edge of the saucer and the rim of the cup that shows wear due to age.
The cup and saucer is small, child or toy size, or demitasse size. The saucer is 4 1/8”. The cup is 2 ¼” by 1 ¾”.
There is one flake to the underside of the cup, which is difficult to see. There are some small spots of loss of color to the green base. There are no cracks, chips or crazing, only the slight flaws I mentioned.
There is an impressed number 983 on the underside of the cup, partially filled in by glaze. There are no marks on the underside of the saucer.
