This is a 19th century French green opaline art glass vase with three applied gilt covered glass feet. The date is circa 1880.
The vase is about 8 Ό high and about 4 wide at the lower end.
The glass is a green opaline and very pretty. The shape is a round body with a slightly flared neck. The rim is polished smooth. The pontil is polished flat and smooth, and the number 12 is hand enameled on the bottom.
The decoration is one of hanging swags of pink and white flowers, with some smaller orange flowers, and green leaves, dangling from the top of the vase. The swags are centered in three areas around the body of the vase. There is a flying bug or insect centered between the dangling swags of blossoms.
Around the top edge is painted design in gold and black. There is another border of gold around the lower neck. The gold and black border is repeated at the top of the flower decorations.
There are no chips or cracks. There is wear to the gold on the rim and around the neck. There is a small line of discoloration on the glass to the right of one of the insects, and some more near the lower bottom, and I believe it is a faint residue from the enameling process, and not a flaw in the glass.
