This is a German hard paste porcelain pedestal comport, compote or cake plate. The date is late 19th century to early 20th century, circa 1890 to 1920.

The comport stands about 3 ½” high and is 8 ¼” wide at the top.

The pedestal rests on four feet with raised designs in the mold that are outlined in gold trim.

The rim of the plate has reticulated designs, which are decorative holes that are part of the blank. There are raised bumps and scrolls. Leaves and stems are hand painted in raised gold enamel. The edge is trimmed in gold.

The middle of the plate shows flowers that look like daisies or chrysanthemums, painted in a red magenta purple and cream. The bottom of the circle is painted in blue and green over a cream ground, perhaps to resemble water. The water colors shade to a red purple behind the flowers, then back to a cream ground.

The underside has several marks and numbers. There is a blue underglaze mark that is difficult to see, even with a magnifying glass, and it is most likely one of the marks belonging to E. & A. Muller, located in Thuringia, Germany; the mark has a small crown at the top. There is another impressed mark of a crown. The hand lettered numbers are in black enamel; they are 544, followed by 26 in a circle, followed by XI followed by I. The numbers will correspond to the mold number, the artist, the gilder and perhaps the date.

There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There is a tiny bit of wear to the gold trim on the edge.
