Ask about Layaway terms. Look for the special porcelain & glass with bird and butterfly themes.
This is a set of six signed American Hawkes cut glass crystal salts. The salts are marked on a bottom corner with the two birds and Hawkes below. The mark was used during the years 1895 to 1962 as the company transitioned from producing primarily American brilliant cut glass to other forms of glass.
The salts have a triangle shape. They are 1” high and 2 3/8” wide. The cuts are deep, with a star shape on each side. The tips have cuts that go inward.
The small dishes are in good shape, except one salt has a chip on the tip, which I show in a photo. There may be a few pinprick nicks I missed seeing. The salts have to be held up to the light and tilted just so to see the marks, and then a magnifying glass will help once you locate each mark. I took a photo, but it was very difficult; however the photo does show the mark well enough to see the word Hawkes and the two birds.
