Ask about Layaway terms. Look for the special porcelain & glass with bird and butterfly themes.
This is a pair of 19th century Bohemian Moser glass wine goblets. The age is circa 1880.
The goblets are 8 3/8” high and 2 5/8” wide.
The glass shades from a cranberry or pale ruby to clear in two places, the bowl and the foot to stem. This type of glass is usually referred to as “rubina” or “rubena”, with two different spellings.
The bottom half of the bowl is threaded. Around the bowl is a hand painted design in raised gold enamel. Below the bowl is an applied rigaree of clear glass in a round shell-like shape. The stem is hollow and has more raised gold enamel painting on it. The foot is round and open to the stem.
The rim is polished flat and is slightly beveled, or chamfered, on each side.
The gold band trim is mostly worn away from beneath the bowl, around the foot, and the rim. There are a few pinprick nicks on the rims. There is estate dirt accumulated inside the stems and underneath the rigaree, which I leave to the eventual buyer to clean more thoroughly.
The best book to view similar Moser wine goblets from the same time period is “Moser Artistic Glass Edition Two” by Gary D. Baldwin.
