Ask about Layaway terms. Look for the special porcelain & glass with bird and butterfly themes.
This is a 19th century Bohemian Moser vase in cranberry glass. The age is circa 1880 to 1885.
The vase is 9 Ό high and 3 Ό long.
The vase is cylindrical with the tops arching on the front and back. There are four applied feet in clear glass, with some residue of gold trim.
The front and back of the vase each show a vertical panel, washed in gold, with white enamel trim along the vertical sides. Over the gold wash are painted stems, leaves and berries in raised yellow-gold enamel. Each side has two gorgeous butterflies painted in raised enamel, in colors of white, blue, yellow, brown, black, and orange. The sides are hand painted in raised enamel, showing a pattern of ferns and raised dots.
The rim is flat, and slightly beveled or chamfered on each side, an attribute of the Moser glass company. The underside bulges out, and has an X in gold enamel. The bottom of the feet are polished flat. If you have any reference books on Moser glass, you will find this same shape of clear glass foot on other Moser pieces.
The top right shows an indentation, and I point to it with a red arrow in the first photo. This indentation is obvious in the photo. It appears to be part of the manufacturing process and not a repair.
There is wear to the gold trim on the rim, feet and panels. There is some residue on the glass on the inside bottom. There are no chips, cracks or nicks.
The vase is quite beautiful.
