Our Service Pledge To You:
I have a 5600+ eBay rating (100% positives) & usually I am able to respond to all orders, offers & eMail / telephone inquiries within 24 hours. (Sorry, but I cannot afford to return phone calls from customers in Canada or elsewhere outside the USA).
For those reasons, roughly 1/4th of my customers are repeat buyers who know my listings are of high quality, authentic & guaranteed -- to make a purchase click on the ADD to SHOPPING BAG link on any listing page.
If you are entitled to a SALE or other discount, please send me an eMail alert & wait for a discounted invoice from me before using PAYPAL.
Please do NOT place an order unless you intend to pay for the item(s) -- if you change your mind, please let me know so I can relist and make the item(s) available to other customers.
Return Policy
Ruby Lane and each of its independent shops want you to be satisfied with your purchase. To ensure your satisfaction and for the protection of both the buyer and shop owner, we have a Return Policy that each Ruby Lane shop owner honors. View Return Policy now.
Shipping/Handling/Insurance Policy:
IF YOU HAVE A SPAM BLOCKER, PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR APPROVED LIST SO MY INVOICE WILL REACH YOU.
NO HASSLES -- NO ELECTRON SWAPPING TO DETERMINE S&H COSTS!!
For unbound paper items, except as noted in some listings, I offer Free 1st Class S&H via USPS to US & CANADIAN addresses only (if necessary, insert 0 or 0.00 in the shipping cost block when paying via Paypal).
If you reside elsewhere outside the USA, for AIRMAIL S&H add $3.50 to the item(s) cost (NOTE: those flat rates apply only to loose, unbound paper items; while framed signs, hard goods, magazines, books & other heavier items will cost more to ship to Canada & elsewhere overseas; see the item descriptions for details).
Most large paper items are shipped in heavy tubes while smaller items are shipped in stay-flat envelopes (the cost to me: about $1 for small items, up to $2.00 & often more for large ads & prints -- PLEASE keep that in mind when you buy or make offers) -- USPS insurance is optional, and I do not insure shipments except upon request.
If you are entitled to a SPECIAL 1/2 off, multiple-buy and/or repeat buyer discount please contact me before using Paypal so I can provide you with an invoice -- if your purchase is a gift, I'll gladly ship to the recipient at no extra charge.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PAY PROMPTLY -- ALSO, IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND & WISH TO CANCEL, PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO SEND ME A MESSAGE TO THAT EFFECT -- THAT WAY YOU WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME & I CAN RELIST THE ITEM -- IF YOU HAVE A SPAM FILTER ON YOUR COMPUTER, PLEASE RESET IT SO MY INVOICES ARE NOT RETURNED OR BLOCKED -- THANK YOU
Restocking Fee:

Other Information:
All ads & prints are warranted to be vintage originals from the books or magazines or other sources cited unless noted otherwise in the listings -- copy or print out the item description if you need a COA or other record of the transaction.
WOODCUT PRINTS / ENGRAVINGS -- A woodcut is a method of printing in which an image is carved into the surface of a piece of wood, with the printing parts remaining level with the surface while the non-printing parts are removed, typically with chisels. The image is then inked by rolling over the surface with an inked roller, leaving ink upon the flat surface but not in the non-printing areas. Paper is then placed face-down on the woodblock and pressure is applied to the back, either by printing press or with hand-held tools such as a spoon or a baren (though any hard, slightly curved surface will do). The ink is transferred to the paper by the pressure, and the mirror image of the surface of the woodblock is printed. Multiple colors can be printed by keying the paper to a frame around the woodblocks (where one woodcut is used for each color). As a practical matter, that was the only way to produce prints and other images (for example, cartoons) in magazines & books till the late 1800s.
STEEL ENGRAVINGS are made in a similar fashion with metal rather than wood & are usually of better quality.
FRAMING TIPS:
* Vintage paper items, especially ads, display better in old frames. Newer frames tend to suggest that a work of more recent vintage is on display.
* "Foxing" (i.e., spots, waves & wrinkles due to moisture or age) can be corrected by stretching or ironing the item under heavy cloth.
*To prevent foxing, use a single- or double-matte to prevent contact with the glass.
*I often use black poster paper when scanning, which prevents text or graphics on the reverse side from shining through & distorting the image of the item that I'm selling. That method works as well when matting & framing.
*If you're looking for something in particular & don't see it in my listings, send me an eMail or call & I'll check my inventory or try to steer your search in the right direction.
