Percy Crosby (1891-1964) was a creator of oil paintings, watercolors, and sculpture, as well as poems, fiction, and nonfiction. Renowned as an expert in recording the flow of motion in his ink drawings and watercolors, Crosby made his mark with his cartoon “Skippy,” about a mischievous, yet philosophical kid, loosely drawn in a sketchy, effortless manner. (Skippy also inspired the peanut butter of that name, and Mr. Crosby’s estate currently is embroiled in complex litigation with Best Foods, Inc. over royalties, etc. -- check the web for more details on that as well as several extensive biographical articles about the artist) --
These very rare vintage, original prints are taken from a bound portfolio, SPORT DRAWINGS (published by Mr. Crosby in McLean, Virginia, 1933, & limited to 1000 editions) -- plain-back, heavy-stock, w/ moderate age-waves along the borders that should easily flatten out when framed -- way too large for my scanner bed, so pardon the misalignment & any shadows or glare due to my slipshod camera work -- click on the above pic & scroll down the next page to see enlarged views
