Authentic little painting ( water color ) which served as an illustration for a book, the Deerslayer . It depicts a trapper and an Indian as they are hunting a stag. It is entitled “ The settlers at Otsego Lake “, an unfortunate push.

Size: 6 x 4,3 inches, fine condition. Painted in the 1950s.

The Otsego Lake was known to James Fenimore Cooper as Glimmerglass and was a principal feature in several of his novels, including The Pioneers, The Deerslayer, and Last of the Mohicans in which one may find mention of such local landmarks as Council Rock and Sunken Island.

It makes a nice gift when matted and framed.
