Japan, Meiji Period: Most attractive walking stick, made of bamboo, carved and signed by the artist. Outstanding, authentic cane with mystic theme.

39,55 inches tall, 0,8 inch in diameter, top knob of bamboo root, superbly carved with a devil, fishing. The devil / demon is sitting amidst clouds and hold a 9 inches long rope at which end a strange symbol hangs on the hooks.

The cane is in very fine condition, except a thin crack at the handle and under the “rope”. The bottom tip is made of copper and has greenish patina.

The Meiji period (, Meiji-jida?), or Meiji era, denotes the 45-year reign of the Meiji Emperor, running, in the Gregorian calendar, from 23 October 1868 to 30 July 1912.
