Greetings from Wolkynia ( Russia ). Quite unusual mail: Postcard made from the bark of a birch tree. It has normal postcard size ( 5,4 x 3,6 inches ) and is in fine condition. The edges are uneven, but this is the original size. The postcard has been sent to Wien in Austria. 3 field post strikes. Unusual and scarce.

1st Austrian Bond to finance W.W.I. Impressive Art Deco design As early as 1912 the Ministry of Finance ordered mint designs for a "new kind of bonds". On September 9th 1914 they finally decided to issue a war bond. No issue - number has been stated which shows that the authorities for Military and Financial matters thought that World War I would end soon. 7 more issues should follow. This one has been designed by Rudolf Junk, a well known Austrian Jugendstil artist. Decorative, fine condition.
