Decorative, antique prayer book, the cover made of celluloid, intact brass locker in Art Nouveau design. Published in 1907 by Butzon & Berker, an official publishing company of the Vatican. After a decree by Pope Leo XII they were allowed to used this coat of arms in their publications. The first pages are lithographed religious images. The booklet is a counsel, advising girls how to stay clean wile they grow up and become ladies, written by a priest. 15 pages, written on an outdated German, some hand written lines at the end of the text. 4,4 x 6,4 inches. 1897: Fine old Jewish prayer book, 468 pages in Hebrew and German: “ Gebete der Israeliten” ( Prayers of the Israelites. Translated by J. N. Mannheimer. Published in Wien by Josef Schlesinger. Decorative cover with bone scrimshaw. There is some aging of the cover ( Normal wear of a payer book in use. Just the spine shows more obvious aging ). There are no tears or folds inside the book.
