Cute vintage set of six cocktail napkins by designer Tony Sarg, two are signed by the artist.

Small, colorful cotton napkins tell a sad story, with a little paragraph on each one, about a lady who ran away with a circus performer, to the dismay of another suitor.

"I tried all I knew her to please, But I could not please her one quarter so well-- As the Man on the Flying Trapeze."

"He taught her gymnastics and dressed her in tights To help him to live at his ease, And made her assume a masculine name And now she goes on the trapeze!

There is more to the story and a great variety of wonderful circus graphics.

Each measures 5.5 by 7.5 inches and has a red stitched hem. They are in very good, gently used condition. I see no major stains.
