Vintage late 30s black silk velvet cocktail dress evokes film noir nightclubs with its sensuously fluid drape and bias cut. Features a johnny-style collar with peaked lapels and self-fabric loop-and-button closure, braid-and-velvet applique over the left thigh, and shirring along the high waistline for a shelf bust-like effect. A half belt in back and long sleeves that gather and snap at the cuffs complete the style. No labels of any kind; fabric burn tests as silk.

Measurements are: Bust 36”, shoulders 17”, waist 30”, hips 36”, sleeves 24”, and length 51”; it appears to have been shortened, likely from a gown-length. (NOTE: Dress has no openings other than at the collar, so your measurements must allow it to be slipped on over the head/shoulders/bust). Excellent condition.
