Vintage 50s Slate Gabardine Dress w/ Red & Grey Zig-Zag Placket L

Vintage 50s gabardine dress in a heathered slate grey features an asymmetrical button placket with large pearly grey plastic (Lucite?) buttons and striking zig-zag effect. On the bodice, jagged “bolts” of red and lighter heathered grey are fastened by a pair of the pearly grey buttons, with the skirt fastened off center with a snap on top followed by a row of 4 more buttons (buttons measure 1 ¼” in diameter). A slant pocket over the right hip is piped in red and light grey to match the colors on the bodice.

Short sleeves, discreetly tucked pleats to shape the bodice, and a back kick pleat complete the look. Two fabric belt loops, though belt is missing. (NOTE: Belt shown in photos is for display only). No labels of any kind; fabric, which has a wonderfully fluid hand, appears to be a lightweight wool, perhaps with a touch of rayon blended in. Dress appears to have been shortened, possibly in the very early 60s to keep it fashionable, with original hem folded under (hem is 1 ½” and could easily be let out). Exact measurements are: Bust 40”, shoulders 17”, waist 34”, hips 40”, bodice 14 ½”, and overall length 39”. Excellent condition
