Cape, which has faux chest pocket flaps and 4 self-fabric button closure, is styled like a sleeveless vest with an attached, overlying capelet falling from the yoke. Skirt closes with a metal side zip. Blouse is solid olive green jersey piped with matching plaid on the collar, button placket and buttons, and 2 patch pockets; chest patch pocket is accessorized with a c-clasp silvertone cherub pin, not original to the set but an accent piece worn by the former owner. All pieces are unlined, with the exception of the overlying “capelet” panel of material on the cape, which is lined in olive satin.
All three pieces are labelled “Iwanir Jercoli, Tel Aviv Style, 100% Wool”, with the words “Iwanir” and “Tel Aviv” appearing in Hebrew characters as well; “Jercoli” is the manufacturer. At the height of its popularity from the 50s through the 70s, Iwanir was founded by Yosef Iwanir and his brother Max in 1939, and was family run till closing in 1981. (Thanks to Shachar Iwanir, the founder’s grandson, for this information).
