A wonderful example of the decade’s polished, ladylike tailoring, this lovely vintage 50s cranberry wool jacket features a fitted shape with shawl collar, gently padded shoulders, and turned up cuffs. Details of its elegant finishing indicate that it was a high-end jacket, from the expertly bound buttonholes and onseam pockets to the weighted panels around the hips which help the jacket fall just so. Applied detail alongside the collar and self-fabric buttons add visual interest, and the silky matching crepe lining completes the rich, top quality look.

Labelled “Whitley-ette” as well as “Polsky’s of Akron” (one of Akron’s leading department stores from 1929 through the mid-80s), its measurements are: Bust 36”, shoulders 15”, waist 30”, hips 36”, sleeves 22.5”, and length 26”. Excellent condition.
