Giant October Sale in progress! Thanks for stopping by!
Everything about this mega-glitz set illustrates why Hobe jewelry is so beloved by collectors--the quality, workmanship, and artistry are just exquisite. The prong-set stones seem to be set in mid-air (particularly in the long, triangular dangles of the earrings), due to the way the invidual settings are “invisibly” soldered together from behind (this is definitely a set that looks nearly as lovely from the back as from the front!). The striking palette—frosted white, iridescent pale yellow, and cool purple-- is at once subtle and jaw-dropping, and the scale of the pieces (2 ¼” x 1 ½” for the brooch; 3 1/8” x 1” for the earrings) is significant without being unwearable.
The brooch and one of the earrings are signed “Hobe” with a copyright symbol inside an oval cartouche, dating the set to between 1958 and 1983. Excellent vintage condition.
