Unused and in the original dust sleeve, this vintage late 40s/early 50s Elgin American goldtone compact features a circular shape with floral engraving on the lid. The mix of shiny and matte finishes to the metal gives it a striking two tone effect. Integral mirror and lidded powder well with puff inside, as well as a paper advertising/re-ordering insert from the company. Puff and powder well lid are marked “Elgin American”. Measuring 3” in diameter, this lovely compact is in excellent condition.

Lovely midcentury Elgin American goldtone loose powder ladies’ compact in a rectangular shape features engraved floral and scrolling designs on the lid. The lid of the powder well is machine engraved as well, with both it and the (used) powder puff marked “Elgin American”. Measuring 2 ¾” x 2”—just right for sitting in the palm of the hand—the compact comes in its original dust bag and is in excellent condition.

Vintage 40s/50s goldtone cigarette case from Schick has a checkerboard pattern mother-of-pearl top and a machined design of gleaming circles inside. A flip-up clip keeps the cigarettes in place. Manufacturer sticker inside lid reads “Styled by Schick Mfg. Co New York”. Measuring 4” x 3”, the case contains 10 vintage cigarettes (8 Viceroy and 2 Chesterfield) that I will remove before shipping if the new owner requests it! Lovely 50s/60s vintage goldtone compact from Stratton features a design of purple thistles on the lid. Stamped “Stratton” on the machine-engraved inner powder lid (along with the logo of a woman’s hand holding an open compact!), and “Stratton, Made in England” just above the mirror. Sifter is present, but not the puff. Measuring just under 3” in diameter, the compact is is excellent condition.

Vintage 50s square Volupte goldtone compact with an machined design of alternating textured and shiny vertical “stripes” features a mirror and powder well inside. Snap-open lid to the powder well is signed “Volupte, USA”, and well contains a velvety unused puff embossed “Volupte” in gold lettering. Measuring 3” x 3”, this lovely compact is in excellent, unused condition, complete with original box and dust bag.

Flapjack-sized vintage 40s lucite compact features a round picture of red, white, and blue pansies on a pink ground framed with reverse carved corners. Inside is an integral mirror and powder well with unused puff and strainer; the well has a “grooved” surface of concentric circles, visible through the lucite bottom. Measuring 4” square, the compact has no manufacturer markings and is in very good, unused condition, with surface scratches and some cloudiness to the mirror

Vintage late 50s goldtone ladies compact from Robert Wuersch Imports features an exquisitely enamelled lid with Modernist design of two abstract fishes in gold, white, and black. Inside is an integral mirror and lidded powder well with unused puff. Swiss immigrant Robert Wuersch opened an importing/exporting business in New York City in 1951 and began production of ceramics and art enamels on copper and wood in 1957.
