Vintage authentic Shaker 15" pantry box with cover from Sabbathday Lake Community in Maine. Features swing handle mounted on mushroom cap wooden peg posts. Box and cover measures 8-1/2" high without the handle extended.

Lovely patina on the original red finish. This pantry box is exceptionally nice and very old; with evidence of frequent use in the Shaker kitchen pantry. Cover has chips missing and brads visible around the margins inside the band.

One of several selected items from a private Shaker collection from Lenox, MA (about 10 miles from the Hancock, MA Shaker Community) sold at auction in Mt Lebanon, NY in 2002.
