1927-1828 New York City Keystone stereoview of Manhattan's "Great White Way" - Broadway theater entertainment district at night - with the Warner theatre marquee on the left touting Al Jolson in "The Jazz Singer". Also clearly visible in the viewer are the Roxy; Strand; Rivoli; and Capitol theaters - all famous 1920s NYC movie palaces - AND the Roseland Ballroom - THE mecca of "Jazz Age" music and dancing in NYC - where everyone "who was anyone" went to dance the Charleston and the Lindy Hop. "The Jazz Singer" was the first feature-length talking picture - and a Warner Brothers production that opened in New York October 6, 1927.

View is from 50th Street on Broadway at 50th Street looking south towards Times Square. If anyone can identify the tall building down Broadway with the lighted clock and globe on top, please do!

3-D EFFECT: The 3-D effect of this stereoview is very good all the way down the street - from the street lamp, trolley and vintage autos to the signs that line the street.

PHOTO NOTE: The photo images are very clean, crisp, very sharp and in great condition - much sharper & clearer in the viewer than they appear in the scanned image. Slight surface rubbing, tiny scratches and wear in the scans have been accentuated by the scanning process and are imperceptible in the viewer.

Back is load with statistics on New York City's entertainment venues - 80 live performance theatres; 1700 motion picture houses; and 80 vaudeville houses & music halls -with seating for over 1 million people.

View #29581T published by Keystone View Company of Meadville PA; New York; Chicago & London as part of a boxed set. Copyright is undated.
