TACO (for Thompson Art Company) is embossed in the lower left corner of the photo. The backing has the original paper triangular label "Fred Thompson Pictures – Oddities, No. 150 D Mirror, Thompson Art Company, Portland Maine”.
A contemporary of Wallace Nutting, Thompson produced similar hand-colored photos. Thompson “knock-offs” have become collectible in their own right.
The pencil inscription on the back "Golf Championship, 1917, Keene (New Hampshire) Country Club" dates this to 1917 or earlier.
Photo is of colonial woman sewing by an open hearth fire. Notice the multi-colored woman's dress and braided rugs on the floor. Image is 6-1/4" wide x 4-1/2" high. Combined photo over mirror measure 18" high x 8" wide.
The mirror shows its age; and the oak frame has a few old scratches under the finish. Otherwise, this is in good shape.
