ITEMS ADDED DAILY: New York City memorabilia; vintage stereo-views, postcards, sheet music & ephemera; collectible banks
Covers are terra-cotta cloth over cardboard with beveled edges. Front cover is embossed in black and gold, with fine chromatic illustration for one of the poems “Early to Bed, Early to Rise” applied to the cloth cover. The book does not give a publication date. However, it is included in a catalog of toy books for 1875-1876.
Inside cover facing page signed in pencil “Nellie Sounsbury, Song Ridge, Conn” (Connecticut).
Book measures 10-1/2” x 7-1/2”. Binding is intact. String binding is stretched between some pages with slight gapping between folios; some string holes are slightly enlarged. Cover corners are rubbed and rounded; cloth cover fabric has small damage at top of spine with some loss of color. Some pages have slight discoloration ( shown in attached photos). Chromolithographs have left slight imprints on some facing text pages. We would still rate overall condition as very good.
A hard-to-find very high quality Victorian children’s book in unusually good condition.
