There is documentation confirming the history of this item. It was made ca.1850 in New York. It is a rare advertising flower pot from " Acker, Merrall, & Condit". If you Google those words, you will find that Acker, Merrall, & Condit were and still are wine Merchants in New York City.
They were established in 1820 at 160 W. 72nd Street, in N.Y. and are still in business today. This item was probably a Christmas give away for their best customers.
It measures 7 ½" across and 3 ½" tall. The decoration is free hand drip cup. Adding to its unique charm is the fact that in the making, the 3 drain holes were made with a square nail. There are no cracks, spiders, or repairs, guaranteed. There are 2 chips on the rim (please see pictures) and minor signs of wear, but nothing to detract from the rarity or desirability of this piece.
Please note that this item will be sent via Express Mail and a signature will be required for delivery. We will double box this piece and we will not offer combined shipping on this. Please inquire for shipping costs.
