Two Japanese Lanterns Vintage Figural Christmas Light Bulbs

Two different examples of hand painted Oriental lantern figural Christmas or party light bulbs. The large Gifu lantern is hand painted on clear glass and dates to the early 1920s (Japan only produced clear glass bulbs for a short time before switching to milk glass). It's 3-1/2" long and has a ring on the bottom for a tassel, marked 14 V Japan at the neck.

The cylinder or Odawara style lantern light bulb is milk glass, just under 3" long and marked 15 V Japan. This style was made from the mid to late 1920s until production ended in the early 1950s. Both bulbs have good paint coverage with only minor wear. Neither bulb lights up but of course they make excellent period tree ornaments.
