J & G Meakin Antique White Ironstone Large Vessel

$129 USDJ & G Meakin Antique White Ironstone Large Vessel

Pottery:Antique:English Ironstone
This large antique white ironstone vessel by J & G Meakin is jar shaped, 10-1/4" high by 8" diameter at the rim, close to 10 inches across at the center. It may have been meant as a slop jar but it would make a great oversize vase or planter. The mark on the bottom has a coat of arms and the words Ironstone China, J. & G. Meakin Hanley England. This mark was in use from 1890 to about 1907. The condition is very good with no chips, cracks, hairlines or damage, just light age-appropriate wear.

Treasure Craft Maroon Reclining Pixie Elf Figurine

$25 USDTreasure Craft Maroon Reclining Pixie Elf Figurine

Pottery:Decorative:Figurines
This 1950s maroon red pixie elf figurine has the unmistakable clothing style of Treasure Craft of California, although the face style is more uncommon for that company and better defined than most. He's just under 4 inches long and lays on his side with elbows and one knee up, head resting on one hand. The hand painted unglazed bisque face has just the tiniest bit of soiling, otherwise he's in perfect condition with no damage or wear.

Mexican Tonala Burnished Folk Art Quail Charger Plate

$65 USDMexican Tonala Burnished Folk Art Quail Charger Plate

Pottery:By Place Of Origin:Mexican Folk Art
This 12 inch decorative Mexican pottery charger or wall plate is made of heavy reddish-gray clay, unglazed on the back. It isn't marked or signed, but is very typical of the hand thrown, burnished folk art pottery of the Tonala, Jalisco region of Mexico during the 1940s and early 1950s, with traditional earthen colors and "flora y fauna" design motifs. The scene is of a graceful pair of quail or love birds amid ferns and flowers in pleasing shades of terra cotta, rust, peach, gray, white, and ...
Pair 1950s Miniature Pottery Pixie Elf Figurines

$16 USDPair 1950s Miniature Pottery Pixie Elf Figurines

Pottery:Decorative:Figurines
This 1950s era little pixie elf figurines are made in a primitive style but the faces are painted in a manner that suggests California pottery. I'm not sure if they were produced by a professional studio or amateur ceramic artist as they are unsigned. Their bodies are dark green with a glossy glaze, their faces are unglazed pink bisque with hand painted features. One is leaning back on his elbows with one leg crossed over a knee, the other is lying on his belly with legs up and hands stretched ...

Morton Pottery Clown in Straw Hat Cookie Jar

$29 USDMorton Pottery Clown in Straw Hat Cookie Jar

Pottery:Kitchenware:Cookie Jars
This vintage clown in straw hat cookie jar was made by Morton Pottery of Morton Illinois. Actually, to me it resembles a scarecrow's head as much as a clown. It's 10-3/4" tall by about 7" wide. The hand painted facial features are underglaze (no cold paint) and the condition is perfect - no chips, flakes, scratches, or crazing.

$34 USDEnesco Sleeping Angel in Clouds Figural Planter

Pottery:Figural Planters
This sweet figural ceramic planter by Enesco features a barefoot baby angel holding a mandolin, asleep on a bed of clouds. I'm not sure if it's a girl or boy angel - the hair is boyish but the gown is a peachy pink color. The angel has a gold halo, gold trimmed mandolin and wings, and there are gold stars decorating the cloud planter. The planter is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes, water or soil stains, or other damage. It stands a little over 4" high by 4" wide. Red and gold foil ...

Pretty 1940s Hand Painted Pottery Vase with Applied Flowers

$14 USDPretty 1940s Hand Painted Pottery Vase with Applied Flowers

Pottery:American Art
I'm not sure who made this pretty vase but the shape and style is very typical of the 1940s. It stands 5" tall and has stem handles and applied leaves and flowers in relief. The vase is not marked. Adding to its old-fashioned charm is an all-over crazing to the glaze, particularly on the undecorated back and bottom. The inside lower half has some water staining, and there is a tiny scratch to the paint on one leaf. No chips, hairlines, or cracks.

It's 4-1/2" high by 4-1/2" wide, marked "Made in Japan" on the underside. The large rose petals have two small chips and some cold paint loss. The light reflections make the chips appear much more noticeable in the photo than they really are. Otherwise the vase is in very good condition, and still very ...
9 Inch Brown Glazed Crockery Stoneware Shoulder Bowl

$18 USD9 Inch Brown Glazed Crockery Stoneware Shoulder Bowl

Pottery:Stoneware
Nice larger size stoneware crock shoulder bowl with a glossy brown glaze and horizontal bands decoration, 9" diameter by 4-1/2" deep. It's marked USA 9 IN, I'm not sure who made it. There are a few typical small nicks at the rim and the standard glaze pops. I've shown the most noticeable, but keep in mind the photo is enlarged and doesn't look nearly as obvious in person. There are a few stir marks in the bottom of the bowl, no cracks or hairlines. The glaze is still glossy and nice.

1950s Spaghetti Angel Figurine in Blue Gown with Lyre

$28 USD1950s Spaghetti Angel Figurine in Blue Gown with Lyre

Pottery:Decorative:Figurines
This 4-1/4" platinum haired spaghetti angel looks like a typical 1950s figurine of Japan production, but apparently she was made in this country, perhaps by a small studio pottery. Written on the unglazed bottom in green script is "Pat. appl'd" and a number that dates to patent numbers issued in 1956. The angel wears a long blue gown trimmed at the hem with spaghetti fur. She has a gold ring halo and holds a gold and white lyre, with one hand extended away from the body, about to play music. Her ...
