This 1950s Treasure Craft of California pixie planter is in the shape of a green leaf-covered log or stump with a chartreuse green Lucky Sprite (which is what the company called their pixies) figurine posed cross legged at the side of the stump. It's 3" high by 3-1/2" wide overall. The pixie wears a leaf collar and heart shaped belt buckle, side-glancing hand painted eyes with lashes and smiling red lips. This darling 1950s little boy ceramic angel figurine wears a football helmet and carries a football under one arm. He's going for a touchdown, posed in a running position with his wings raised and his free hand away from his body to the back. This 2-section divided pottery vegetable or serving bowl was made by Treasure Craft in the 1970s. The oval dish is glazed white with beige speckles, and has a piecrust ribbed rim and interior sides. Decals of strawberries and strawberry blossoms are in the center of each section. Measurements: 12 by 8 by 1-3/4 inches deep. The dish is in perfect mint condition and appears to be unused. Marked in-mold: Microwave Ovenware, Treasure Craft, Made In U.S.A. © 869, 870.

This retro flower bowl or planter vase was made in 1958 by Shawnee Pottery. Shades of my mother - she had several of these pieces in the gold and white Chantilly pattern, which was advertised as a cascade of ceramic lace over capacious designs. The biomorphic shape ovoid bowl curves up at the sides and has a narrow round ribbed base painted gold. These shallow Tonala pottery bowls were made in Mexico and hand painted in the folk art style with birds, butterflies and flowers in shades of bright blue on speckled blue-gray. They measure 8 inches diameter by 1-1/2" deep - soup plate size. The backs are signed underglaze Mexico with the artist's initials AM. In excellent condition with no damage or glaze wear. I have a similar pair of bowls listed elsewhere in the shop. Price is for the set of two bowls.

This covered casserole serving dish in International China's popular discontinued Heartland pattern is 7" diameter at the rim (8-1/2" wide handle to handle) by 4-1/4" deep, not including the lid. It holds about 2 quarts. There's a little bit of decal wear to the blue butterfly and grape stem areas above the houses and two small glazed-over flaws from manufacture at the rim.

El Patio was Gladding McBean's first line of dinnerware, produced in 1934, before the company adopted the Franciscan trade name. This skillet shaped long handled bowl is an individual casserole, 5-1/4" diameter by just under 2" deep by 9" long from rim to handle. There is no lid. I have one left in Redwood brown. The casserole is in excellent condition with no damage or crazing. It has the oval GMcB mark, the company's earliest backstamp.

The pattern was reintroduced in 2004 but I don't believe they brought this piece back - in any event, it has the original old mark, not the new one. It measures 8-1/4" by 7-5/8" and is in excellent condition with no damage, crazing, or design wear.

A scarce set of 1940s California pottery animal figurines by DeLee Art Potteries: Rooney and Cooney the masked raccoons. Cooney is 3" tall by 3-3/4" long to the end of his extended tail, Rooney is a bit shorter and has a curved tail. These rare 1930s Winfield artware rose shaped salt and pepper shakers can be seen in Chipman's Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery. They're 2-1/4" high, one in a redwood brown color, the other pale yellow. The incised mark reads Winfield Pasadena 275, indicating an early studio production by Winfield's founder, Lesley Sample. This antique hand painted 10" floral plate isn't marked but I believe it was made in Japan prior to the 1920s. It has hand painted colorful flowers and an embossed orange-red rim with gold trim and raised moriage treatment on some of the flowers. The only marking is a raised 4-pointed star at the center underside, which is actually a firing support mark. It's a pretty plate for use or display and has no damage and little if any wear.

Nice larger size stoneware crock shoulder bowl with a glossy brown glaze and horizontal bands decoration, 9" diameter by 4-1/2" deep. It's marked USA 9 IN, I'm not sure who made it. There are a few typical small nicks at the rim and the standard glaze pops. I've shown the most noticeable, but keep in mind the photo is enlarged and doesn't look nearly as obvious in person. There are a few stir marks in the bottom of the bowl, no cracks or hairlines. The glaze is still glossy and nice.
