Stoneware Co., Red Wing, Minnesota

This jar is 6 1/2" tall, and 6 1/2" diameter at the bottom. It has a zinc screw on lid. It is in near perfect condition. No chips, cracks, or nicks. Normal manufacturing flaws. The is a patent number embossed on the bottom of the jar, but it is too faint to read.

Red Wing Stoneware Co was founded in 1877, in Red Wing Minnesota, on the bank of the Mississippi River. In 1894 Red Wing joined Minnesota Stoneware Co & North Star Stoneware Co forming the Union Stoneware Co. All 3 retained their own names and independence. In 1906 Union Stoneware Co dissolved, and Red Wing Stoneware Co & Minnesota Stoneware Co merged to become Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing stopped stoneware production in 1947, and ceased production altogether in 1967.
