Two young lovers in Renaissance-styled dress meet in a serene, rural setting of trees and rugged rocks. The gentleman, so dashing in his turquoise waistcoat, chocolate brown pants, scarlet cape and jaunty hat, offers a nosegay of violets to his lady love, who is dressed in a royal blue blouse with white ruffles and a voluminous lilac skirt. They have gentle, tender expressions which contribute to the mood of this romantic, tranquil scene.

This tin measures 6 3/4" x 4 1/4" x 3". There are no identifying marks, but the graphics and style of the overall filigree accents are consistent with English tins I have had which dated to 1940s-50s. In good condition with light tarnishing and scuffing along edges and seams and only a few light scratches on the image. There is a small spot where the white enamel paint is missing on the image, but it is on the upper right corner of the gold frame. And there is a small, shallow dent on the front of the lid's lip near the lefthand corner. The interior is fairly clean with light tarnishing and only light surface rust on seams (please see closeup photos). The bottom has surface rust which could be neutralized with a solvent of your choice - I leave that to you. A charming tin to add to your collection or to display on its own. Please visit again!
