This lovely James Kent dish is one of those older pieces which gains an attractive appearance from overall crazing - like a good vintage cheese improves with aging! The underglaze crazing on the pale-sage of the interior sides and the brown-toned terracotta of the central panel and the pretty plum-colored flowers and moss-green leaves gives this dish the look of an Italian tile from an old house in Tuscany...very pretty!
Measures 5 1/2" square. The ruffled edges are trimmed in gold and show little wear (ca. 10%). There is a small chip on the underside of one corner (please see closeup photo). Backstamp dates this dish to early 1900s, after 1913 (when 'Ltd.' was added to company name) and before the 1930s. Thanks for dropping by!
