These colorful saucers feature large handpainted roses in shades of magenta and deep sun yellow. The grass green leaves and soft brown stems are done with nice impressionistic brush strokes, as are the flower petals. Splashes of powder blue and gold daubs on the rims give a nice brightness to the design and the impression of roses growing under a summer sky. The saucers would be perfect as trinket dishes or for guest soaps or as dishes to hold tea bags and spoons for an afternoon tea break...or simply to add a bit of interest and color to a display shelf.
The two saucers/plates are in very good condition with no chips, nicks, cracks or hairlines. There is minor wear to the paint in a couple of places (please see closeup photos). Gold wear is minor - ca, 10%. One saucer has a backstamp of "Made in Japan" and both have the pale blue tint to the porcelain that is typical of wares from Japan in the late 1800s through early 1900s. Please stop by again!
