This beautiful plate has a gently scalloped rim with an interior beaded embossing that mirrors the shape of the scalloped rim - lovely and one of the prettiest molds produced by the Gutherz factory. The handpainted roses are done in soft shades of ice pink, velvety magenta and sun yellow with sable brown stems and moss and muted sage leaves. The outlining of the leaves and petals is bold, providing a vibrant and lively composition against the background wash of pale sherbert colors - peach, lemon and lime. The shadows beneath buds and thorny stems are a nice effect. The artist's signature is in gold ink on the back and seems to be something like J. Greenway or Greswaly or...?.

This plate is in very good condition with no chips, nicks, cracks or hairlines. There is minimal fading to the floral design and moderate, patchy wear to the gold trim on the rim - ca. 15-30%. The plate has a O & EG Royal Austria wreath mark (Oscar and Edgar Gutherz) - dating to ca. 1899-1918
