Luscious, velvety poppies, hand painted in shades of tangerine, coral, peach, terracotta, pinkish-peach and lemon yellow, and their buds are all connected by grass-green, thorny vines. The rim is gently scalloped and the handles have pretty, raised molded designs. The perimeter of the plate is embellished with a raised, curvaceous ribbon that is thickly gilded. Such a wonderful plate for adding color and style to a kitchen shelf or hutch. Or something special for summer desserts - chocolate chip cookies with lemonade out on the veranda, anyone?!

The cake plate measures 10 3/4" across the pierced handles and with a serving area diameter of 10". In excellent condition with no chips, nicks, cracks or hairlines and no scratches that I can see. Gold wear is minor and primarily on the handles (ca. 5-10%). The "Habsburg China MZ Austria" backstamp was a trade mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on items specifically made for export to the United States during 1890-1918. The BT & Co. crown mark was a US importer logo used for Bavarian or Dresden items, dating to 1890s-1920s). Please stop in again when you're browsing on Ruby Lane!
