Beautiful Vintage Imari Gilded Enameled Floral 8 1/2" Plate, Chrysanthemums, Peonies

This gently scalloped plate is truly beautiful! The very pleasing, pale aqua background is filled with a variety of stylized floral forms, including chrysanthemums and peonies. Each blossom is done in a vibrant turquoise wash and is finely outlined and intricately detailed with fine, slightly raised, gold paint. Additional white enamel accents and raised gold dots add to the overall energy of this delightful pattern.

Measures 8 1/2" across and is 1" deep. In very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing - there is, however, a small nick (less than 1/16" in size) on the gilded rim. There is minor gold wear - ca. 10%. The weight of this ceramic plate is substantial - slightly over 1 lb. The back is marked in gold with "Imari Shuho" which might refer to the stylings of the Japanese Chokin artist Shuho Eguchi. Probably dates to 1940s-60s. Thanks very much for stopping by!
